A Susquehanna Community high school senior is a leader in the classroom and on the softball field.
A field she's been playing on since she was 8 years old. Action Sports reporter Gabe Osterhout introduces us to this week's Academic All-Star...Brooklynne Baker.
"Softball has just been a big part of my life."
Susquehanna Community senior Brooke Baker has been playing softball since she was 8 years old.
This year, she's one of 3 seniors on the varsity softball team.
And hopes to continue playing next year in college.
"Softball has always been a big part of my life. I've always done it every year. I've always tried my best but if I don't get on the team at Bloomsburg, I'll just find a summer league to go about."
While softball is important to Baker, it's not the most important.
She says she wants to go far in life, and to do so, her grades are the most important.
She has an average in the 90s and is taking 2 advanced placement classes.
Baker will go to Bloomsburg University in the fall, and major in psychology.
"I think human behavior and the mind is really really exciting to me. I just love learning about all the stuff that happens to us and why it happens."
Coaches say Baker is a dream student athlete.
"We never have to worry about her in the classroom. She brings everything she has in the classroom and on the field she is one of our best players."
Baker says she'll be very emotional when she plays her last softball game.
She'll miss not only the competition, but also the players and coaches that have supported her from the beginning.
And that's why Brooke Baker is this week's Academic All-Star.
