Hillcrest, NY (WBNG Binghamton)

She is willing to do just about anything for the team, up to and including cutting off her hair.
Chenango Valley senior Jenna Ivan is a 3-sport standout and a model student, carrying an average of 101 into this year.
And she's something else, Jenna is also this week's academic all star.

She is quick to point out that she enjoys the one elective of her day, an art class.
But at heart, Chenango Valley senior Jenna Ivan is at home in science class.
So much so that half her school day is spent in the hospital as part of the new visions program.

" I like that there is a set answer... "
She would like to someday become an orthopedic surgeon, but this season enjoyed cutting open opposing defense for the Warriors volleyball team.

" I was more vocal. There were 6 seniors on the team and we were all leaders in our own way. And we went farther than any CV team had ever gone. "

She enjoyed this past Sunday off, and is now gearing up for basketball season, and feeling a bit lighter on the court.

That's because this week she chopped off about a foot of her hair to donate to locks of love.
This marked the 3rd time she's made such a donation.

" It sometimes gets in the way, but I really like helping, and you feel better once you get it cut."

She likes science because you can get things right.
And Jenna Ivan does exactly that.
As a student, as an athlete and as a person.
It's why she's this week's Mirabito academic all star.
