Chenango Valley senior Pat Norris is definitely a well-rounded guy. He's one of the leading scorers on the basketball team, though he isn't one of the biggest names. He knows his role, and other coaches definitely know it too.

"A shooter and a big part of our offense is the drive and kick so I've got 2 great guys that do that," said Norris. "Zach (Collins) and (Chris) Ruffo can get to the basket whenever they want so I'm always ready to catch and shoot on the wing for them."

"Pat Norris is on every opponents mind. He's a dead eye shooter," said Bob Zanot, the Warriors head coach. "If he's open, he's going to make it. In practice one time, he made 98 free throws in a row. He's got our record. We shoot 3-point shots in minute and made 17 in one minute which is our all-time high."

Norris says basketball runs in his family. His uncle Jim brought him around basketball practice, when he was on the coaching staff at Binghamton University.

"It helped a ton," said Norris. "It started out in the West Gym, watching the Colonials and that was a huge part for me growing up. I still have the jerseys from when I was young but its always been a part of me, I love it so much."

However the salutatorian of the senior class isn't going to continue his education at Binghamton University. Instead, he hopes to fulfill a lifelong dream by going to Notre Dame.

"It started out as we're football fans and I realized that's a place I want to be at school at," said Norris. "It's a great business school, just a great environment and it would be a real honor if I could go there."

An accurate shooter, and a whiz in the classroom, that's why Pat Norris is this week's Academic All-Star.
