Usually when a player dominates a sport, they've played it their whole life.
Not the case for Susquehanna Valley Senior cross country runner Sydney Williams.
Williams actually started her athletic career playing soccer.
But she says she wasn't very good.
Sydney says, "My mom ran cross country so I was like hey, I want to be like my mom and I decided to try it out. Never expected what I was going to get out of it."
What she's gotten out of it has been a dream come true.
Williams claimed the Section 4 Class A cross country championship for the 5th year in a row.
A streak that started when she was in 8th grade.
"8th grade, I was so oblivious to everything. I came to sectionals and I ran and I won and I was like wait, I have to run another week? There's a state meet? What is this? I was definitely really surprised for me and it's the best thing that ever happened."
Her coach Grace Tabeek says, "She's been a captain for 5 years...she's just very self motivated. She motivates the others around her and she's just one of those dependable kids. She's always there. She's always telling everyone how to do things, the way to do things because she has so much experience herself."
Williams is also a leader in school.
The class president is a member of national honor society and carries a 99 average.
Williams will soon decide what division one college she attend.
She plans to continue her running career, but isn't sure what she'll study.
Sydney knows it won't be medicine, saying that just isn't her thing.
