"When I'm up there, it's, I feel so in control."
Up there is on the mound and that's where Deposit senior Cory Andresen has been for the past three seasons for the Lumberjacks. His numbers speak for themselves... A 5 and 1 record with an ERA under one. But Cory's greatest skill is leading both by what he says and more importantly, what he does.

"Being a pitcher that's the most important thing because if I get too excited or worked up then I don't even know where the ball's going to go and that could really cost us the game."

"He's a role model. He takes care of the announcements in school. He works wherever he can work. He picks up the equipment for us. He's just an all-around excellent kid."
His leadership doesn't just show on the diamond. For the past several months, Cory's spent time every day after school working with a special fourth-grade student He helps him with homework, talks about problems or even just plays a game with him. His position as school role model is one he takes very seriously.
"One thing that really rewards me is like that's when I realized that I wanted to be an elementary teacher was working with him and seeing how much I could help him to succeed and I just really like to see the accomplishments that he's made through me."
The Lumberjacks are also hoping to follow Cory's lead back to the state tournament where he helped bring home a runner-up trophy as a sophomore.
