Devin Kane's day is loaded with seven AP classes that includes principles of engineering calculus chemistry and physics. And all that with only one quick break.

I have lunch.

And the class work is the easy part of his day. His work begins two hours earlier.

Coach Joe Peranski says, "Our school starts at 830 where one of the later starting schools so we hate to give up that early morning time. We try to get some things done so we don't keep people here too late at night as a captain he kind of coordinate some of our morning practice things. We do a team breakfast so he helps coordinate that. He's got a leader in the pool as well is outside of the pool."

And of course the work in the pool is an easy. Devon specializes in distance swimming.
Devin says, "I'm incentive for the past 10 years in club and modified in varsity. I think I just developed into being able to stand the longer distances and just be able to maintain my speed."

A fearless attitude towards schedule making also help form Devin's most ambitious plan. Last spring he spent six weeks in Italy as a foreign exchange student.

"The first couple days were difficult just trying to understand the language. After that we got over it."

Devon maintains a 94 average in the toughest schedules in his extra effort has earned him this week's academic All-Star.
