" I'm pretty much running between each class trying to get stuff done. "

With a class schedule that includes AP biology, calculus and sociology, Laura Mastro's day would be busy enough.
But mix in commitments to varsity club and national honors society and student council, and her day is more packed.
Then pack on 3 varsity sports, and it's amazing she had time to sit down in a day.
With all that time spent inside a classroom, it's where she sees herself spending more time someday.
Laura says, " My mom was a teacher and by watching her interact with other people it really interested me. "

When's she's not in class she's in the gym, taking that same never stop attitude to her basketball season.
" Defense is a big part of our game and I like to lead by example on the defensive end as well. A lot of times players like to rest and we like to capitalize on it saying this isn't a time to rest you get that chance when you're out of the game."
Coach Sonny Spera says,
"That's the attitude of a winner. You want take advantage of any letdown or lax in the game where you don't have that lax or letdown. If you can hopefully make more opportunities for your team and the nice thing about her is she's willing to make that opportunity happen for whoever is there."

She's not just busy, she's seemingly good at everything she does. That's why Laura Mastro can relax, she's this week's academic all star.
