It might appear that Blue Ridge High's Blaise Ross is the perfect kid...
"To be honest with you, he's a coach's dream," says head coach Billy Arthur. "He does the intangibles. He works to get everybody involved first. Would rather pass than shoot and score first."

Throw in a perfect jump shot...

Perfect ball handling...

And a near perfect grade point average in the classroom...

But ever since 3rd grade, Blaise has been hiding a dirty little secret.

"I collect baseball cards," says Blaise. "I'm kind of in to that so, it's kind of geeky, but whatever, it works. I have Barry Bonds' rookie card. I got a lot of other rookie cards that are pretty valuable, but with the steroids, a lot of those are going down in value."

Kidding aside, Blaise has been the unquestioned leader of the Raiders as a three-year varsity player.

He's improved his game by playing with the Southern Tier Rage AAU team and as you can tell, he's a big fan of Philadelphia sports, so much so that he's modeled his game after one of the city's stars.

"Big fan of Andre Miller," says Blaise. "I like the way he plays. He's my favorite point guard in the NBA. I don't know, just try to stay calm under pressure and different stuff like that so, he does a good job of that."

Blaise has already been accepted to Notre Dame and Temple and plans to study business.

But for now, he's this week's academic all star.
