" The guys in the press box called me moonlight after I played half an inning and never got to hit."
Unlike the character in Field of Dreams, hitting is now the last thing Joe Hietpas will have to worry about.
If he gets back it will be on the hill.
"some days are good, others not so good, "

" He looks like he belongs, he has the right demeanor."

Working with what he says is a fastball and a little slider and a little change, Joe says comparisons to Tampa Bay closer and converted catcher Troy Percival are off base.
" I wish I thew that hard."
And the fact that he can outsmart his opponents with his knowledge as a catcher and his degree from Nortwestern?
" don't let the degree fool you. They let guys in to play sports."
He's learning on the fly, and this time around, certainly enjoying the ride.
"it's a roller coaster ride."
