Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
The Binghamton Mets game against Reading tonight has been cancelled due to the rain.
That gives the B-Mets one more day to figure out how to replace center fielder Matt den Dekker.
The reigning Eastern League player of the week was promoted to Triple A Buffalo yesterday.
B-Mets manager Pedro Lopez says he's happy for den Dekker but adds his bat will definitely be missed.
Lopez says it'll be up to the rest of the team, and newcomer Dustin Martin to fill that void.
"He's a left handed bat, that's what den Dekker was bringing to the table as well. He's a guy from my understanding that runs well so hopefully he can pick up where Matt left off so and if he does that I think we're going to be ok."
Tonight's rain out will be made up as part of a double header tomorrow, starting at 5:35.
The teams will play 2 7 inning games.
