Harrisburg, PA (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Mets went 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position and fell to the Harrisburg Senators, 2-1, on Friday night at Metro Bank Park. The B-Mets left runners on in each of the final five innings. Brian Burgamy extended his hitting streak to a season-high 12 games in the loss.
Binghamton got on the board right away. Austin Voth hit Burgamy with a pitch with two outs in the first. Dustin Lawley then doubled to left-center field to bring Burgamy across the plate and put the B-Mets on top, 1-0.
Harrisburg came right back in the bottom of the inning against Gabriel Ynoa. Matt Skole reached on a two-out double and stole third base. Kevin Keyes came through with an RBI single to score the runner and tie the game at one.
The Senators got their first lead of the game in the second. Drew Vettleson led off with a double and advanced to third on a ground out. Brian Jeroloman hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring the runner home and make the score 2-1.
The teams traded zeroes the rest of the way. Voth (1-2) went 5-1/3 frames and allowed just one run, while striking out eight. Ynoa (2-1) tossed six innings of two-run ball, but took the hard-luck loss. Adam Kolarek threw two innings scoreless innings in relief.
The B-Mets (70-48) continue their series with the Senators on Saturday at 6:00 PM. RHP Rainy Lara goes for Binghamton opposite RHP John Simms for Harrisburg.
