BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – The Binghamton Senators’ power-play unit was blanked by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday night, going 0/5 as the Penguins downed the Senators by a 4-2 final at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Mark Letestu put the Penguins on the scoreboard as the center broke behind the Binghamton defense on a solo rush and beat netminder Jeff Glass five hole with a wrist shot.

The B-Sens tied the game with a deflection off the stick of Greg Mauldin. Defenseman Drew Fata fired a slap shot from the point and Mauldin slashed in from the right side of the crease to tip the puck past netminder John Curry.

The Penguins grabbed the lead back with a power-play marker from Janne Pesonen. Luca Caputi sent a cross-crease pass from the deep left corner to a waiting Pesonen at the right post, where Pesonen scooped it past the outstretched glove of Glass.

Binghamton responded in the opening minutes of the third period with a rebound goal from Denis Hamel. Following a shot from the point, Hamel gathered the rebound and on his second swipe found the net to make tie the game at 2 a piece.

Jean-Michel Daoust netted the game-winning goal with just over two minutes left in regulation. With the Penguins skating on the power play, Daoust bounced a puck through traffic and home to seal the win. Connor James added a late empty-net goal.

Glass made 32 saves in the losing effort. Peter Regin finished the night with two assists.
