BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – Denis Hamel, Greg Mauldin and Peter Regin combined for three goals and seven assists to power the Binghamton Senators to a 4-2 victory over the Rochester Americans on Saturday night at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena.

Following an early Amerks goal off the stick of Janis Sprukts, defenseman Derek Smith buried his third marker of the season at the 15:16 mark. Denis Hamel fed Smith a cross-ice pass and Smith wristed a shot from the left circle over netminder Mike Brodeur’s glove hand to make it a 1-1 game.

The B-Sens turned it on in the second period, outshooting Rochester 22-7. Hamel found twine just 51 seconds into the stanza when he crashed the left post and backhanded a shot over Brodeur’s blocker.

Rochester responded midway through the period when Drew Larman one-timed a rebound through traffic and past netminder Jeff Glass to make it two all.

Binghamton converted its lone power-play chance three minutes later. Mauldin gained control of the puck along the end boards and backhanded a pass to a slashing Hamel. Hamel snapped a wrist shot past Brodeur for the eventual game-winning goals and his 12th marker of the season.

Mauldin and Hamel teamed again in the third period for the B-Sens fourth marker. Following a shot from the point off Hamel’s stick, Mauldin gathered the puck behind the cage and flipped it off of the back of Brodeur’s leg and in for the final goal.

Hamel registered the first four-point (2+2) game of the season for the B-Sens. Mauldin set a season-high with three points (1+2), while Regin set a career high with three assists. Glass collected 23 saves to earn his second win of the season.
