Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
The only thing louder than the cheers at the Veterans Memorial Arena this season has been the grumbling about finding a parking spot.
One fan says it's the worst he's ever seen at a professional rink, and it's only going to get worse.
Long-time supporter Hans Petersen is at the front of the charge for a change.
A season ticket holder since hockey first came to the area in 1973, Petersen conducted a study and found that over 1,100 spots have been taken away around the arena for various reasons, like the closing of the Marine Midland bank's underground garage to the proposed Binghamton University housing project.
And Petersen says the end result may be losing Binghamton hockey altogether.
Petersen will present his findings to Binghamton City Council on Monday when they will vote to approve the new BU housing project.
Among the options Petersen is presenting is a new garage to be built by the Vestal loop behind the Arena.
