Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Ottawa Senators prospect Matt Puempel was reassigned to Binghamton Wednesday after his season ended in the OHL.
Puempel's a player that should be familiar to B-Sens fans because he spent the final nine games of 2012 in Binghamton. In that stint, Puempel scored his first AHL goal in the B-Sens season finale against Norfolk.
Cheverie's big save
Binghamton sealed up at least the number four seed in the AHL Playoffs with a shootout loss at Adirondack Sunday. Part of the reason the game got to the shootout was Marc Cheverie's save to rob Adirondack's Danny Syvret of a goal.
The save helped keep the Phantoms off the board in a game that earned the B-Sens the point they needed to seal up a top four seed. Coach Luke Richardson said it may be one of the biggest saves of the season.
"Hopefully home ice works out well for us, and if it does, you can attribute it to going back to that game when we got that one point to get our home ice, to clinch it," said Richardson earlier this week. "You never know what little play or big play wins or loses games for you, so we'll take those big plays anytime."
Binghamton kicks off its final three regular season games with a visit from Manchester Friday night.
