The Binghamton Senators are already in the hunt for a new head coach.
But whoever gets the job, they will have a little bit of help on the blue line at the start of next season.
The Ottawa Senators announced they have signed defenseman Fredrick Claesson to a 3 year entry level contract.
Claesson recently completed his second full season with in the Swedish Elite League.
He set professional career highs in 2011-12 in with 6 assists, 7 points and 47 games played.
Ottawa assistant general manager Tim Murray says he will start next season in Binghamton.
The 19 year old was the Senators 5th round pick in the 2011 NHL Entry draft.
Ottawa's assistant GM Tim Murray says, "He moves the puck smartly. He has to work on his skating, quickness and mobility a bit, but he's really taking great strides for us and he made the decision he wanted to come over here and start his pro career so we're very happy with that."
Also today, the Ottawa Senators have resigned forward Patrick Cannone to a two year, two way contract.
In his first full professional season, he finished 3rd on the B-Sens with 19 goals and 43 points.
He was also one of 2 players to appear in all 76 games for the B-Sens last season.
