The start of the AHL hockey season is right around the corner, and the Binghamton Senators roster is taking shape.

The Ottawa Senators sent 8 guys to the minor league camp.

And they are some pretty familiar faces.

Those players include defenceman Derek Smith, and forwards Cody Bass, Ryan Keller and Corey Locke.

Last season, Bass played in 57 games for the Sens, scoring 5 goals.

This will be the 5th season Bass has spent time in Binghamton.

Keller led the Sens with 34 goals in 72 games last season.

Locke was an all-star last year, netting 31 goals for the Hartford Wolfpack.

And Smith scored 14 goals in 74 games as a member of the Sens defence.

Also sent down were goalie Robin Lehner, who won both games he appeared in last year, giving up 6 goals.

Defenceman Patrick Wiercioch and forwards Bobby Butler and Francis Lessard were also sent down.

The Senators roster is now comprised of 23 players: two goalies, eight defencemen and 13 forwards.

The team will return to Binghamton tomorrow and will resume training camp on Tuesday at the Arena.

The Sens open the AHL season this Friday, October 8th at home against Adirondak.
