Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Binghamton Senators have won seven of their last eight games, but that doesn't mean there aren't concerns for the team.
The one thing that does worry the coaching staff is defense.
In its last three games, the team is giving up more than four goals a contest. It's a stat that doesn't make coach Richardson, a former defenseman, all warm and fuzzy inside. Instead, it's something they're trying to fix.
"I think there's been night where, as a group of five on the ice, we turn the puck over way too much and put ourselves in defensive zone situations for too long," Richardson said. "That results in penalties or scoring chances, which inevitably leads to goals so we worked a little on 'D' zone [Tuesday]. We want to make sure we're better in the 'D' zone, we're faster in the 'D' zone and we cut down on that."
The B-Sens will likely have to improve without center Derek Grant for a fourth straight game. Richardson said Grant will likely be out for Wednesday's game at Rochester.
The B-Sens are 3-0 against the Amerks this season.
