BINGHAMTON (WBNG BINGHAMTON) The Binghamton Senators announced today that forward Mike Hoffman has been recalled by its National Hockey League affiliate, the Ottawa Senators.
Also today, Ottawa announced that forward Derek Grant and defenseman Mark Borowiecki have been re-assigned to its American Hockey League affiliate, the Binghamton Senators.
Hoffman, 24, has appeared in all of Binghamton’s 21 games this season, leading the team in goals with 11 and assists with 15. His 26 points ranks him second among all AHL scores this season. The 5-11, 176 pound Kitchener, Ontario native has appeared in four NHL contests since the 2011-2012 season registering no points and a minus-2 overall rating.
Originally selected by Ottawa in the fifth round (130th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Hoffman has recorded 128 points (52 goals, 76 assists) and 108 penalty minutes over 212 career AHL games, all of which have been with Binghamton.
Borowiecki, 24, scored one goal (the first of his NHL career) and added 48 penalty minutes in 13 games with Ottawa following his recall on Nov. 2. Grant, 23, recorded two assists (including his first NHL point) in 20 games following his recall on Oct. 18.
The B-Sens will be back on home ice next Friday when they welcome the Hershey Bears to town before they host the Albany Devils on Saturday; both games are slated for a 7:05 p.m. puck drop.
