Houston, TX (WBNG Binghamton) After more than a week off, the Binghamton Senators are set to battle for the 2011 Calder Cup.
Game one of the best of 7 series is in Houston.
Action Sports Director Brendan O'Reilly is at the Toyota Center in Houston to get us ready for the big game.
Gabe the first posted temperature we saw outside the Toyota Center here in Houston said it is 98 degrees.
We can ope the Binghamton Senators can stay that hot.
Remember the Bsens swept through the Eastern Conference finals, never trailing at any point.
Head coach Kurt Kleinendorst has conceded that there will be some signs of rust.
Which is the first of tonight 3 keys.
The first 20 minutes will be Binghamton's test after a layoff of over a week.
They need to get through that rust and attempt to get their offense back to the the highly efficient scoring machine we've seen this post season.
Another key is putting the puck on net.
The Sens can't afford to get outshot, especially with rookie Aero's goaltender Matt Hackett giving up some rebound opportunities.
Converting those could help the Sens collect some goals, particularly on the power play.
And lastly, the Sens need to make Houston work.
Not just in digging pucks out of the corners and making it a physical series, but by keeping their lines rolling in quick shifts to force the Aeros to keep up.
This is a veteran team that has sent more players to the NHL this season than Binghamton, but also one that has to be tired and beat up after a grueling 7 game series with Hamilton.
We are still about 2 hours from game time.
Be sure to check out WNBG.com where we will update all post game interviews with a recap whenever the game is finished.
