The common criticism of the Binghamton Senators during this post season run has
been a simple one.
Opposing fans call them the Ottawa Senators....get it because so many of our guys
played in the NHL this season.
Well this time that doesn't work.
You see Houston has had even more members of their team play at the highest
level this season.
And Binghamton's side says that experience can come in real handy right about
" Any time you are up in the NHL it's for a reason, you know, you're a good player. They have a lot of those guys I guess and that's why it's going to be a battle. They are committed to their systems. They are a good team."
" You get experience, you mature. You get a lot of neat things for being up for a while, and when you come down, obviously, it's better. They have the same kind of thing there, so I think we're kind of the same keys for both teams. That's why it's so even."
It's interesting that since both teams have a lot of NHL experience, they are
also both relying on rookie goaltenders.
As for the game on the ice, it's been a feeling out process for the first two games.
Houston plays a style very different than both Binghamton and many of their recent opponents, so it has taken the Sens some adjustments to get ready.
" They're obviously a good team. They're big, they're fast, they go up and down the ice. You don't have much time out there. You know, obviously, every team plays a little bit different. It's going to take a bit to get used to. They play kind of like Wilkes-Barre, kind of like Manchester."
" You do have to modify a little bit. We worry about what we do. We identify tendencies of who we're playing and that's just the way it is."
The next 3 games are in Binghamton, on a smaller ice surface than the one in Houston.
We'll see how that effects the Aero's attempt to clog up the middle of the ice.
Game 3 is tomorrow night at 7:05 at the Broom County Veterans Memorial Arena.
