(WBNG BINGHAMTON) One of the challenges for AHL teams is juggling the puzzle pieces when somebody gets called up to the NHL. Losing a player means lost production, and production you have to replace with somebody else.
The B-Sens seem to have no problems with that.
Exit Stefane Da Costa to Ottawa last week...enter the likes of Jean-Gabriel Pageau, Shane Prince and Matt Puempel. The last of those names has 6 points in his last 5 games...he also managed a goal on his birthday.
Puempel says his recent success comes from just being opportunistic.
"Different opportunities arise and I think when you get some, you get confidence -- just different things like that come into play...different challenges I've faced throughout the season and just getting adjusted well," Puempel explained. 'I'm happy with the way things are going and the team is doing well, so we're doing well."
The B-Sens have 3-point lead in the East Division, but they'll be put to the test as 4 of their next 5 games are on the road.
Next up: a road contest at Worcester Wednesday night.
