Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
The B-Sens announced Tuesday that Patrick Wiercioch has been released from the hospital.
He will head back to Binghamton to recover from injuries he suffered in last week's game.
The 21 year old was hospitalized Friday night after taking a puck in the throat.
Head coach Kurt Kleinendorst said that Wiercioch is in good hands.
He expects Patty to be transferred to Syracuse where he can see a throat specialist, though Kleinendorst isn't sure when that will happen.
And he says they aren't sure the extent of his injury.
"I know we all care about Patty. I know that we all have him in our prayers and all that stuff. Anytime you have a teammate and something like that happens to you, you can't help but be affected in some way and again, everybody's different, every player is different," Kleinendorst says.
"It's tough whenever something like that happens. Some of the guys in the locker room have never played with a guy who was injured in the way he was and some of us have been around longer probably have a better chance at it but from a personal standpoint, we play the game and often forget about the risks associated with it," says goalie Mike McKenna.
