Binghamton Baseball Shrine Induction Day

Before tonight's B-Mets game, the Class of 2009 was inducted into the Binghamton Baseball Shrine.

The three-member group is headlined by former B-Met Quilvio Veras.

Q.V. was an Eastern League all-star and led the Mets with 52 stolen bases in 1993.

He played seven seasons in the Big Leagues and had his best year with the San Diego Padres in 1998 when they lost the World Series to the Yankees.

Veras says the old ballpark looks just like it did when he played and says he's enjoying the honor.

"It surprised me," says Quilvio Veras. "When they called me the first time, I said are you sure you called the right person? I said, what have I done in Binghamton and he said, no you got the honor to be in the hall of fame in Binghamton and I said I appreciate being in there for sure."

Also inducted tonight was Hallstead native Danny McDevitt.

He played six big-league seasons and is the last Brooklyn Dodger to pitch at historic Ebbets Field.

The late Dale Long of the old Triplets was also honored.
