VESTAL, N.Y. - Visiting Syracuse (2-2-1) capitalized on an own goal in the 48th minute to defeat Binghamton (0-3-1) 1-0 Sunday afternoon from the Bearcats Sports Complex.

Early in the second half, the Orange sent a ball into the box and the hard low delivery caromed off a BU defender and rolled back inside the near post.

"Overall we grew today," head coach Sarah McClellan said. "We battled well the whole game and our players aren't happy and don't feel accomplished after that result. We felt like we let one slip away."

Syracuse outshot BU 10-5. Orange keeper Eliza Bennett-Hattan made three saves for the shutout.

Binghamton keepers Jen McEachron and Erin Iman split the game in half and made three saves apiece.

Binghamton heads to Western New York for two games next weekend. The Bearcats will play at Niagara on Friday night before facing Buffalo Sunday afternoon.
