VESTAL, N.Y. (WBNG BINGHAMTON) - Riquina Williams poured in a game-high 28 points and Shenise Johnson added 20 points, powering Miami (8-2) to a 68-52 win over Binghamton (2-7) on Saturday afternoon at the Events Center.
The game marked the second straight season that the Bearcats have squared off against the ACC program.
Williams scored 24 of her points in the first half, as the Hurricanes raced out to a 46-23 lead.
She went 9-for-16 from the field during the first 20 minutes and drained four three pointers.
While Williams was held in check during the second half, Johnson had 10 points and five rebounds during that stretch.
Johnson also finished the game with eight rebounds, trailing only teammate Morgan Stroman who finished with 10 rebounds.
For Binghamton, senior Erica Carter netted a team-best 17 points.
She went 6-of-12 from the field and was 5-of-8 from beyond the three-point line.
Sophomore forward Viive Rebane added 11 points while sophomore point guard Andrea Holmes finished with nine points and six assists.
Despite the rough first half, Binghamton got to within 55-40 with 10:05 left in regulation.
The ensuing three minutes of action were scoreless but back-to-back three pointers by Stefanie Yderstrom and Johnson gave the Hurricanes the cushion they needed to close out the game.
Binghamton stays at home on Monday, when it faces Sacred Heart at 7 p.m.
