Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
A year ago this week we were preparing for the BU Bearcats first ever trip to the NCAA tournament.
Now selection Sunday is come and gone, and we know that BU won't be heading back, but another Bearcat team will be very well represented in the NCAA tourney.
6 Bearcat wrestlers are preparing for the national championship.
Josh Patterson is a defending all-american and is heading to the NCAA's for the 4th time.
In addition to competing, he's also leading this group of Bearcats in their first trip to the tourney.
Coach Pat Popolizio says, " It's a big atmosphere, but the good thing about it is we've been in those situations with some big dual meets this year across the country. He leads by example. He knows how to win and he'll set the tone. He's done it all year and these other guys have stepped up to the plate as well."
Patterson says he's enjoying some company this week: " It's been nice. I haven't been in here working out by myself, I've got some teammates this year. It will be nice to have them out there and have them wrestle there too."
Wrestling begins Thursday morning in Omaha, Nebraska and champions will be crowned Saturday night.
