The BU Men's cross country team is looking to improve on a very successful 2009 season.

Not only did the men win the America East Conference last year, Marathon native Erik van Ingen became the first Bearcat to capture the individual title.

Van Ingen says while he wants to repeat as America East champion, his goal is to run well at the NCAA chamionships.

"Erase any notion of being a middle distance runner and kind of just show, not really to everyone else, but to myself that I can run any distance at the same level," he says.

Van Ingen says he had some trouble with injuries and his health toward the end of last season.

But says he feels a lot stronger and more fit than ever, both physically and mentally.

The Bearcats open the season hosting the Binghamton Invitational on Saturday, September 11th.
