BU senior Erik van Ingen has advanced to the finals of the 1,500 at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are being held at Drake University. The three-time All-American won the second of two preliminary heats with a time of 3:42.57.
The top five finishers in each of the two preliminary heats plus the next two fastest times advance to Saturday's final, which will be run at 12:15 p.m.
Ryan Hill of NC State won the first preliminary heat with a time of 3:39.84.
van Ingen has now advanced to the 1,500 finals two years in a row.
He was sixth overall in the finals last year.
