There's some very high expectations for the Binghamton University women's volleyball team as the season begins.

The team is picked to finish first in the conference this year, after winning the conference tournament this year.

Players and coaches say they lost a couple of key players from that team, but have 6 seniors to help lead the team this year.

One of those seniors is Michelle McDonough.

She feels hard work and veteran leadership are key to helping this team get back to the NCAA tournament.

"She's vital to this team. She does everything well from back row to front row so she is the leader and she's going to be counted on to help everyone on the team this year," says coach Glen Kiriyama.

"We have a lot of hard workers this year and so I think I'll be able to overcome. We're not too tall so I think we'll be able to overcome that with hard work," says McDonough.

The Bearcats open the season August 27th against Loyola in the Rocket Volleyball Classic in Toledo, Ohio.
