Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
The BU Volleyball Team continues to prepare for its first round match-up with top-seeded Penn State Friday. It's the third time the Bearcats have faced the Nittany Lions in the opening round, but so far, it hasn't turned out well for BU.
Binghamton failed to take a set from Penn State in 2005 and 2009, so that's something the team hopes to change this time around.
"We just want to stay aggressive, but for us hopefully we can surprise them a bit with some blocking and defense," said Coach Glenn Kiriyama. "We'll need to dig well against this team to keep the ball in play and hopefully get a few kills from our outside hitters."
"You can't really think about it too much," said Amanda Dettmann, a sophomore hitter. "We're just playing volleyball, we've played it our whole lives, it's the same game. They're not really doing anything much different on the outside so we just have to play our game and just go with what they throw us."
BU and Penn State tip things off Friday night at 7:30 in State College.
