(WBNG Bingahmton) The Binghamton University women's basketball team ended conference play in 3rd place and will take on New Hampshire in the first round of the America East Tournament.
Players and coaches know it'll be a difficult road without leading scorer Andrea Holmes.
She's out for the rest of the year with a torn ACL.
Even still, the team is confident it can compete, and even win the tournament.
And get the automatic berth in the big dance.
"I think no matter who we get in conference, we're just going to have enough confidence with all these games we've won lately. I think we have enough confidence to come through and pull it out," says senior guard Jackie Ward.
"Losing a player like Andrea Holmes is always a big loss for any program but ya know, that's where our coaching staff, we've got a solid coaching staff, will put together a good game plan and if she's not in the mix, we've got the players to do it," says coach Nicole Scholl.
The Bearcats will open play on Friday at 2:35 pm at the University of Hartford.
