Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Professional tennis players have started to flood the Southern Tier for next week's LG&T Tennis Challenger. But mixed in are a few players with local ties, looking to make a mark on the Binghamton tournament.

One of which is B-U sophomore Thomas Caputo. Caputo just finished up his freshman year with the Bearcats.

He said it's an experience he's looking forward to and he hopes to pick up a few tips.

"It's an unbelievable opportunity for me. It's a completely different taste than college tennis," said Caputo. "It's pro level, so it's even higher level and it's great to just have the opportunity to get out here and play. I'm excited to do it and hopefully pull some good points, good matches out for the home crowd."

On Friday, he had the chance to hit with former U.S. Open semifinalist Robbie Ginepri.

Qualifying for the tournament begins on Saturday at Rec Park.
