VESTAL (WBNG BINGHAMTON) Last spring the Binghamton softball team cruised to its best regular season finish since 1995.

Then, as BU played host to the America East tournament, the Bearcats faltered and finished third, missing the NCAA tournament.

So the goal for this team in 2014 is to get back to the conference tournament and finish what they started a year ago.

They'll do so with 4 first-team all-conference players returning, plus the entire starting infield.

And those returning say last year taught them a few lessons.

"We let the pressure of the tournament setting get to us a little bit," said senior infielder Jessica Bump. "It's not really something we focus on, but we've learned from it. I think this year we're really going to take this 'one step at a time' mentality and not really think about getting ahead of ourselves."

"We kind of let our emotions get to us during the tournament and we learned a lot from that," said head coach Michelle Burrell "We're looking to build off of that experience and I think we'll be in a better spot if we get back there this year."
