Bearcats lose final dual on the mats

VESTAL (WBNG BINGHAMTON) Visiting Bloomsburg (9-8) won seven of the nine contested matches and posted a 28-12 win over Binghamton wrestling (5-13) Saturday afternoon at West Gym.

It was the final dual match of the season for the Bearcats, who will now prepare to head to Philadelphia for the team’s inaugural EIWA Championship, hosted by Penn on March 8-9.

The highlight win for BU was junior 149-pound Joe Bonaldi, who worked into a second sudden victory period to edge No. 19 Bryce Busler. Junior 184-pound Caleb Wallace earned a 6-4 decision and junior 125-pound David White got the team’s other win with a forfeit.

Senior 197-pound Cody Reed had a strong match against No. 6 Richard Perry, battling to the final whistle in a 3-2 loss. The defeat snapped Reed’s 11-match win streak.
