Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
A trip to the semi-finals is an exciting time for most teams.
But it's become a part of the season for the Cornell men's hockey team.
For the 5th season in a row, the Big Red is headed to the ECAC semi-finals after a quarterfinal sweep of Dartmouth.
Now, the Big Red will meet rival Harvard in Atlantic City for a trip to the championship.
There will be some distractions before the teams hit the ice.
But Cornell feels the experience of having been there so many times will make it easier for them.
"It's easy to get wrapped up in those outside things but all we can control is what we do on the ice, how we play our game and we have to take a step back and not worry about the NCAA tournament, not worry about the championship but play our game, because if we play our game, we should have success this weekend."
"I think there's a certain comfort level with some of our older guys who are seniors and have been to and played in the championship game 3 years in a row. It's new and exciting for our freshman, but for older guys, we know what to expect. We know the routine."
The Big Red beat Harvard once and tied them once in their two meetings this season.
They'll play for a trip to the championship on Friday night at 7:00 pm in Atlantic City.
The winner will take on the winner of the other semi-final between Colgate and Union.
