Apalachin, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The future of the Binghamton University basketball team is in good hands according to a well-known college basketball coach from New York State.

Syracuse Coach Jim Boeheim was one of the celebrities to play in the Jim Mudcat Grant golf tournament at the Links at Hiawatha Landing.

He says new Binghamton University coach Tommy Dempsey is a great fit for the job.

"Tommy's a very good coach and he brought one of my guys down here, Lazarus Sims who's probably the smartest player I've ever coached and he relates well with players. I think they're going to do a great job down here. I think Binghamton basketball is in good hands," Boeheim says.

Boeheim is just back from London, where he was an assistant coach for the U.S. Men's basketball team that took home a gold medal.
