Gurowski tallied less than one minute later before DiBetta twice found Mongelli for a 4-0 lead. Mongelli struck again on a Weinshank assist before Weinshank notched one of his own to implement a 6-0 gap. Elmira scored with 1:37 lingering in the first frame.
The teams exchanged a pair of goals each as senior Jay Lucas (Fox Lane/Bedford Hills) went unassisted to open the second stint and Schattner capitalized on a pass from sophomore Andrew Bruce (De La Salle/Lafayette, Calif.) at the six-minute mark. After Elmira’s third goal of the game, Schattner reinstated the six-goal lead to close out the half with a 9-3 advantage.
Lucas found Mongelli at 10:27 in the third to kick-off four unanswered Bomber goals. Denying the Soaring Eagles a score in the third, Gurowski followed before freshman Trevor Lundblad (Forest Hills Central/Ada, Mich.) used an assist from freshman Andrew Kristy (Fairport/Fairport) and Schattner fed freshman Ryan Burns (Lakewood Ranch/Bradenton, Fla.) to give the Bombers a double-digit, 13-3, lead.
Elmira scored three straight in the final quarter, but it was a goal by freshman Kevin Sherman (Notre Dame Academy/Middleburg, Va.) on an assist from classmate Pat Slawta (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.) that put the game away.
The Bombers will next host Hartwick on Saturday, April 23 at 1 p.m. for senior day.
