Ithaca, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Cornell men's lacrosse team is traveling down south for their first game of the NCAA tournament, taking on ACC champion Maryland.

The Big Red are looking to bounce back from a disappointing overtime loss in the Ivy League tournament.

But they say they're ready to go.

"Couldn't be more excited about going down there and playing a great team, an ACC team like Maryland...just excited about the matchup and getting the week started yesterday, it's been great so far," says Rob Pannell.

"We're just thrilled. Maryland is a very traditional, rich and stories program. One of the Titans in the game of division 1 lacrosse and I think Cornell is excited to be going down there and playing Maryland," says coach Ben DeLuca.

This is the 9th time in 10 seasons the Big Red have made the NCAA tournament.

It's the first time they'll play Maryland since 2000, when the Terps notched an 8-7 win.

The game is Sunday afternoon at 1 pm.
