State College, PA (WBNG Binghamton) DaQuan Jones has made quite a statement to begin his senior season at Penn State. The Johnson City grad leads the Nittany Lions with 18 tackles in two games, and also already has two sacks.

Last season, Jones recorded just 22 tackles and one-half sack in 11 starts for PSU. This year Jones credits a new diet and lost weight to his increased productivity up front.

The starting defensive tackle also ranks fourth in the country in tackles for a loss per game. He said his success this season is a product of preparation and hard work.

"Just to be more active. You've got to be active with your hands, and you've really got to study the plays and read formations and stuff like that," said Jones. "It's something I do all the time, Coach Johnson does a great job during the week preparing for things like that so you go out there and they're in a certain formation, so you know what plays are coming and stuff like that, so that's all it is."

Jones and the rest of the Nittany Lions look to move to 3-0 against UCF this Saturday in Happy Valley.
