Syracuse, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
Some bad news for a current member of the Orange.
Harpursville native Jared Kimmell will miss the upcoming season.
He hasn't responded to off season knee surgery well enough to play.
The 6-foot-6 250 pound defensive end had 13 tackles in eight games last season, including six solo stops, 2.5 tackles for a loss, and 1.5 sacks.
This was to be Kimmel's 5th year at Syracuse, so he will have to apply to the NCAA for a 6th season.
Orange head coach Doug Marrone says the team is already looking into that option.
