Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) BU basketball player Rob Mansell is calling it quits. The Bearcats leading scorer from three seasons ago has announced, he's retiring from the game after two different knee injuries ended two different seasons.

Instead, he'll be remaining around the program in a different capacity, which was a big opportunity for him.

"Growing up I never dreamed about coaching or serving as a grad assistant, I always wanted to be a player, I always wanted to win championships as a player," said Mansell. "Since I can't do that anymore, I guess this is the next best thing."

The exact role hasn't been defined yet by the staff, as Mansell continues into graduate school at BU. However, coach Tommy Dempsey said he plans to use Rob as an example every day to the younger guys of why education is so important.
