Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
They have won the regular season conference title 4 years running.
They return the league player of the year and pitcher of the year.
And still the BU baseball team was picked to finish in 4th place.
While league coaches may not have a lot of faith in this year's Bearcats, the people inside the Binghamton locker room believe they should be in the mix to make it 5 straight titles.
Part of that confidence comes from a good showing in last year's non conference schedule, and that's something the team is looking to repeat this year.
Senior Corey Taylor says, " You know we've come a long way as a program and I feel that the point we are at now as a team, were not going there just to get some good pitching outings, get some good at bats. Stay in ball games, were going there to win."
Coach Tim Sinicki adds, " This has been handed down from player to player and class to class. We're at a point right now where just being competitive isn't good enough and really staying in ball games and giving ourselves a chance to win at the end is what were looking to do. And for the most part we did a good job with that. "
Binghamton has improved their win total in each of the past 7 seasons, a NCAA record.
To do that again in 2011 they'll need at least 32 wins.
