ALBANY (WBNG BINGHAMTON) Playing some of their best basketball of the season, the Binghamton men had dreams of shocking the America East by winning the conference tournament.
Then Hartford showed up in the form of a nightmare.
After a 69-42 thrashing at the hands of the Hawks, BU got its wake up call. But that won't stop the Bearcats from dreaming again -- of the day when they're the ones at the top of the America East ladder.
Binghamton is adamant that day will come eventually.
"We are on the climb," said head coach Tommy Dempsey. "I feel strongly about that. I'm not going to let tonight take that from us. We're a better team right now -- and it's not even close -- than we were a year ago and at this time next year, we'll be a better team than we are today. How much better? We'll figure that out."
"Personally, I'll use this as motivation," said sophomore Jordan Reed, who finished with just 7 points against Hartford. "I'll use it to motivate the guys that are coming in, motivate the guys that are here to one day win this tournament."
Binghamton finishes the season with a 7-23 record. That's a four-game improvement from last season (3-27).
