Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) When coach Mark Macon announced he had effectively cut Kyrie Sutton from his team, he called it a coaches decision.
When asked by reporters he definitively said it had nothing to do with any illegal activity.
But the day of that announcement Sutton was arrested.
Binghamton University's student newspaper pipe dream broke the story Friday.
Sutton was arrested November 4th for a misdemeanor charge of criminal possession of stolen property.
The paper also profiles 3 other run ins with the law, ranging from drug possesion to driving a car without a licence in the past 2 years.
Macon declined comment, as did Sutton and interim athletic director Jim Norris.
The team has their season opener Saturday night at 7:00.
