Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Two Binghamton University wrestlers open their own runs towards NCAA titles on Thursday. Senior Cody Reed and junior David White both look to create a little madness of their own in their respective weight classes.
It's the third straight appearance in the NCAA's for Reed, while White qualified for just the first time. No matter what the previous experience, both face seeded wrestlers in their opening match.
But that's not too much of a concern for coach Matt Dernlan.
"If you're going into this tournament looking for an easy draw, you're going to have a pretty short weekend," said Dernlan. "We talk to the guys, we prepare them all season. We don't wrestle a singlet, we don't wrestle a name, we don't wrestle a ranking, we wrestle the guy right in front of us for those seven minutes. If you're all consumed about that stuff, your head is already in the wrong place."
The team leaves for Oklahoma City on Tuesday afternoon. The tournament begins on Thursday.
