(WBNG Binghamton) A Binghamton University runner is one of 5 college athletes to run in a prestigious mile race later this month.

Senior Erik Van Ingen will run in the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in New York City.

The Millrose games are an indoor track meet that features some of the best runners in the world.

Van Ingen says his goal isn't necessarily to win, but to have a good showing.

"It's a race against competitors, it's a race against the clock and it's a race against myself. It's kind of a relief of stress being able to focus on multiple outlets as opposed to worrying about I need to win this race and if I don't win, it's the end of the world," says Van Ingen.

If Van Igen runs the mile in under 3 minutes and 59 seconds, he'll automatically qualify for the NCAA championships later this spring.

The Wanamaker mile is the last event at the Millrose Games.

The Games will be Saturday, February 11th at the Armory in New York City.
