(WBNG Binghamton) The BCANY Summer Hoops Festival is coming back to Johnson City this year.
And the Southern Tier boys team hopes to take home the tournament title, after coming in 2nd last year.
Most of the players on the Southern Tier boys team know each other
from playing against one another during the Section 4 season.
Players say they may not have the most talent in the tournament, but they expect to be competitive.
"I think we have to play a lot of team ball because we're not going to have the best players but I think we're going to have the best team. If we can play good team ball, I think we'll be alright," says M-E's Kyle Gallagher.
"As long as we play together, I feel like we could be a real dominant team in this. Last year's team was great but I think this team can be just as good if we buy into a team concept," says Colin Manchester of SV.
Meanwhile the key for the girls team to be successful is to use their speed.
Head coach Kurt Ehrensbeck doesn't expect his team to use a lot of half court sets.
His team isn't very big, and they will be taking on teams with girls over 6 feet tall.
Players think their speed will be key.
"We don't have much height but we're really fast I think so we should be able to run a lot of teams," says Sabrina Bowman of Waverly.
"We do have a lot of guards so I think we're really fast and even our post players are really quick so I think from what I've seen in practice, we do a good job getting it up the court," says Taylor DePalma from Ithaca.
