The heat is turning up, pretty literally on the high school football field.
Wednesday players put on their shoulder pads for the first day just as mother nature turned up the thermostat a few clicks.
One school that's used to feeling the heat is the Chenango Forks Blue Devils.

Forks is fresh off their 4th straight sectional title, and 10th in the last 11 years.
As usual they were hit hard by graduation, but again are ready to plug the holes with callups and reserves from last season.
At quarterback, Zack Jeske only saw significant time in one game, but that was in the state playoffs where he nearly engineered a Forks comeback win.

Coach Dave Hogan says, " It was probably the equivalent of four or five games. A big game like that, and especially the way he played. He played pretty much all of the second half and played very well. He played with confidence and the kids rallied around him. That was a big boost for him as well.
Lineman Connor Lubya adds, "He stepped it up and he did amazing. And he brought the passing game to us. So we'll be doing a lot more of that this year."

Another big returner is fullback and linebacker Lucas Aston who missed the majority of last year with a knee injury.
He's expected to pick up where he left off and be an anchor for the team on both sides of the ball.
