Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Savonna Connolly grew up playing softball.
She also grew up right next to Binghamton University.
And now the school just a few blocks from her house will be her home for the next 4 years.
This afternoon the Vestal senior signed her national letter of intent to play softball for the Bearcats.
She had been prepared to play for division 3 Cortland next season when at nearly the last moment, an opportunity opened with BU.
"It's a funny story, it wasn't originally there. But then it came along and I went with my heart. This is what I wanted to do, to be a division 1 athlete and my hard work paid off and now I'm a Bearcat," she says.
Connolly was this year's Co-MVP of her Vestal team, leading the way with a .424 batting average.
She will major in at BU.
And she already knows a few of the players on the team, having played travel ball with several of the Bearcats during their high school days.
